Chambersburg’s own self publishing historian, Bob Harrison, is featured in the Web edition of Public Opinion, the county’s most comprehensive source of local news and information. Harrison, who writes the column “On This Day in History” for the paper’s Active Living seniors’ insert, has covered the historical events and faces that pertain to the date it appeared in print.
Harrison entered the world of self publishing because of his determination to gather 50 of his favorite columns that have appeared in the paper in the past 10 years. Choosing from the many book publishers was not a problem for him since his late wife also had a book in print with one of the leading self publishing companies, Xlibris. The process on how to publish a book became easy with Xlibris consultants guiding self publishing authors like him every step of the way, ensuring that they retain full control over their own work.
Self publishing his book was Harrison’s way of taking readers behind the headlines of his best stories.
